SHEEHY AUTO STORES CHARITABLE CONTRIBUTIONS/COMMUNITY INVOLVEMENT
While Sheehy Auto Stores makes contributions in many areas it has chosen two major focuses:
- Breast Cancer - For the past ten years Sheehy Auto Stores has been a corporate sponsor the Susan G. Komen National Race for the Cure. To date, Sheehy has donated over $300,000 to the Race for the Cure. In addition, we have been able to raise additional contributions from many of our vendors as well as add personal involvement from our employees. In 2007 100 Sheehy employees and family members actually participated in the annual 5K race.
- Education - Education has been at the center of Sheehy Auto Stores' attention for many years. Sheehy provides five scholarships annually for students who could not otherwise afford it to attend private high school in the District of Columbia. In addition Sheehy is a major supporter of the Washington Jesuit Academy in Washington, D.C. which provides a private school education to city residents who cannot afford to pay for such education?
Each dealership in the Sheehy organization also reaches out to its local community, supporting health, education, hospice, youth recreation and many other areas. Some examples of these:
- Anne Arundel County Hospital Cancer Center
- The Save the Bay Foundation
- Santa Claus Anonymous
- The Richmond Canned Food Drive
- The Red Cross
- Numerous local Little League and Rec League teams
- Local high school sport programs
- Hospice of Maryland
Sheehy Auto Stores also responds to immediate needs in times of tragedy or crisis. After Hurricane Katrina Sheehy employees made significant contributions to the Hurricane Katrina relief Fund with the corporation matching each dollar contributed by the employees.
